Weekend Winners: Kate Tracey backing Boiling Point to cook up a storm in Winter Derby at Lingfield

It is Winter Derby weekend on Your Site Racing as Lingfield takes centre stage this Saturday and the Weekend Winners team all landed on different horses in the feature.

Host Kate Tracey was joined by Declan Rix and Sam Boswell as they previewed the five-runner contest, headed by John and Thady Gosden's pair Chancellor and Nebras.

It looks a wide-open contest this year, with Karl Burke's Boiling Point and James Fanshawe's Sky Safari both holding strong claims. Military Academy for Jane Chapple-Hyam completes the field.

"A trappy race on paper and you can pick holes in a lot of them including the favourite Chancellor. He hung last time which wasn't something I liked. So I am going to take a swing with one in Sky Safari who is a big mare who I didn't think would suit the track, but she did last time when narrowly denied.

"The negative would be she's taking on the colts and geldings, and she's come from the handicap sphere. I hope she can settle in behind and they go a good pace and she can mow them down late. An interesting race that could become tactical."

"I'm siding with Boiling Point and everyone has been negative about him being off for a while but I expect him to have all the class here. He signed off last year when winning the Cambridgeshire when dropping back into handicap company.

"This test asks a different question and winning handicap of 109 which means he could be a Group Three horse this season and expect him to just sit of the pace and pounce late."

"John Gosden thought Boiling Point should have been the favourite during the week in comparison to his two runners. I thought the value play was going to be Nebras of the aforementioned trainer but he is a lot shorter now than during the week. Ryan Moore is booked to ride him for the first time which looks to be a positive.

"He won a really nice trial for this race over the course and distance beating Tyrrhenian Sea in the Quebec Stakes and Oisin Murphy dictated everything on the front end and battled away well. He needs to step up again on this performance but I think he can take another step forward."
